Because children's martial arts has become
such a lucrative market, many people think of MA as a kid's sport,
like kickball or t-ball. In fact, more than once, when someone has
learned that I practice Tae Kwon Do, they have responded with a
smirk and a comment to the effect of "Yeah, my kid used to
do that, but now he's into Little League." What a shame! Martial
arts can provide a lifetime of enjoyment and health for people of
all ages.
If you have ever toyed with the idea of studying
martial arts, I cannot encourage you strongly enough to go for it.
There is such a wealth of available styles and schools that there
really and truly is something for everyone.
I've put together a list of resources for
the prospective martial artist, as well as my own experiences with
the sport. I hope you find them enjoyable and helpful.
